Art by Luus is het atelier van Luus Blankenaauw, een Nederlandse autodidacte kunstenares. Kleur, kracht en authenticiteit zijn typische elementen van haar handtekening. Al 15 jaar schildert zij met passie, nieuwsgierigheid en een maatschappij-kritische blik. Met dat als uitgangspunt creëert zij verschillende series rondom de thema’s vrijheid, identiteit en diversiteit. In haar Geisha-serie laat ze zien hoe sterke vrouwen vaak hun ware gevoelens en gedachten verhullen achter uiterlijke perfectie. Met haar Spirit Animals -serie daarentegen viert ze juist de rijkdom van verschillen en de vrijheid om zichtbaar jezelf te mogen zijn. Humor, gelaagdheid en expressieve kleuren maken haarwerk toegankelijk en tegelijk diepzinnig. Haar kunst nodigt uit om voorbij de buitenkant te kijken ende schoonheid te zien in alles wat ons tot mens maakt.

Art by Luus is the studio of Luus Blankenaauw, a Dutch autodidact artist. Color, strength, and authenticity are signature elements of her work. For 15 years she has painted with passion, curiosity, and a critical view of society. From this perspective she creates different series around the themes of freedom, identity, and diversity. In her Geisha series she reveals how strong women often hide their true feelings and thoughts behind outward perfection. In contrast, her Spirit Animals series celebrates the richness of differences and the freedom to visibly be yourself. Humor, layered symbolism, and expressive colors make her work both accessible and profound. Her art invites viewers to look beyond appearances and discover the beauty in everything that makes us human.

Mijn kunst laat zien dat diversiteit onze grootste kracht is.
Vrouwen spelen vaak een hoofdrol in mijn werk, maar mijn boodschap is universeel: ieder wezen verdient vrijheid, gelijkwaardigheid en zichtbaarheid.
Sommigen voelen de druk van een veranderende wereld en vrezen hun identiteit te verliezen. In mijn werk maak ik die spanning zichtbaar, maar creëer ik ook ruimte voor dialoog en verbinding.
Fantasiedieren - spirit animals brengen humor en verbeelding, en helpen zware thema’s op een zachte manier bespreekbaar te maken.

My art shows that diversity is our greatest strength.
Women often take center stage in my work, but my message is universal: every being deserves freedom, equality, and visibility.
Some feel the pressure of a changing world and fear losing their identity. In my work, I make that tension visible, but also create space for dialogue and connection.
Fantasy creatures , Spirit Animals bring humor and imagination, helping to address serious themes in a gentle way.
